Очень часто используется в буржуйской интернет среде — на форумах, в чатах, и в соц сетях.

Аббревиатура WTF is «what the f***» — что за фигня, что за херня, какого фига?

Обычно означает негодование, недовольство, удивление, по сути, как и у нас.

Еще, очень часто можно увидеть среди буржуйской блогосферы такое выражение:

WTF is going on? — что значит, «что, вообще, за фигня такая? что творится?»

Является ли эта фраза нецензурной?
По сути — да.

Вот что он ответил:

I wouldn’t say the words that wtf stand for, but many people use the phrase.

The ‘f’ word is very common in books, movies, and some TV channels. It cannot be used in movies or TV shows that are ‘family-oriented’ but is in many movies rated ‘R.’

I saw an interview with one of the stars of one of my favorite TV shows and he said they could use the word once per season.

On TV shows on pay channels like HBO and Cinemax, the word it often used a lot.
It is crude, but emphasizes what is being said.

If someone says «What do you mean by that» it’s not as intense or serious as «what the f*** do you mean by that?»
Some people will say «what the freak» as a substitute.
Most curse words have unofficial substitutes. 🙂
