We are on the threshold of a New Year, year 2018. Although we celebrate this every year, we are always happy to usher the year in as something new, hoping that the wishes we make at the stroke of midnight do come true.
New Year’s Eve is above all a family celebration. We mark it just as we did when we were children, with presents and pleasant surprises, as well as with a special warmth and expectation for change.
Change will certainly come to our lives if each of us takes care of our parents and values every minute we spend with them, if we try to better understand our children and their aspirations and dreams, and if we support those nearest to us who need our help and our generosity.
The ability to help, to show concern and understanding for others and to do good deeds fills our lives with true human meaning. As we celebrate, be it with family and friends, or out in the streets, we all share the same festive mood, while modern technology allows us to share our feelings with our nearest and dearest who may be hundreds or even thousands of kilometres away.
As usual, my special words are extended to those who are working at the moment, who are doing their military or professional duty at hospitals or on board aircraft or trains.
We are all together on this wonderful New Year’s night. We are also together in our everyday life as well. Unity, friendship and selfless love for Russia multiply the strength we need for worthy deeds and high achievements.
I am sincerely grateful to all of you for believing in yourself and in our country, for your work and its results. I hope there will always be trust and mutual understanding in your life.

A New Year, year 2018 will begin in just a few seconds. This is the time when we should say the most important words to each other, forgive one another’s mistakes and forget old grudges.
Embrace, say words of love, and show that you really care. May the life of each family and individual improve for the better, may you all be healthy, may children be born that make us happy.

Дорогие друзья!
На пороге Новый 2018 год.
Конечно, этот праздник приходит к нам каждый год, но всё равно мы воспринимаем его как новый, добрый, желанный. Верим, что всё загаданное в эти минуты, все наши надежды исполнятся.
Новый год у нас это прежде всего семейный праздник. Мы отмечаем его как было в детстве с подарками и сюрпризами, с особой теплотой, с ожиданием важных перемен. И они обязательно придут в нашу жизнь, если каждый из нас всегда будет помнить о своих родителях, беречь их, ценить каждую минуту, проведённую с ними.
Если будем больше понимать своих детей, их устремления и мечты, поддерживать тех, кто рядом. Кто нуждается в нашем участии и душевной щедрости. Умение помогать, быть чуткими, дарить добро наполняет жизнь истинным человеческим смыслом где бы мы ни находились: за семейным столом, в весёлой кампании, на праздничных улицах нас объединяет приподнятое новогоднее настроение, а современные технологии позволяют разделить наши чувства с дорогими людьми, которые могут находиться за сотни, тысячи километров.
И как всегда мои особые поздравления всем, кто сейчас работает, выполняет воинский или профессиональный долг — дежурит в больницах, ведёт самолёты и поезда. Мы вместе с эту прекрасную новогоднюю ночь. Мы вместе и в наших общих повседневных делах. Сплочённость, дружба, бескорыстная любовь к России умножают наши силы для достойных поступков и высоких достижений. Хочу сердечно поблагодарить всех за веру в себя и в нашу страну, за труд и его результаты. Пусть доверие и взаимопонимание всегда сопутствуют нам.
Дорогие друзья, до наступления 2018 года остались буквально секунды. We celebrate it just like we did during our childhood: with presents and surprises, with special warmth, with expectations of important changes. And they will come into our lives if each and every one of us will remember our parents and care for them, treasure every minute spent together with them; if we will learn to better understand our children, their dreams and aspirations; if we support those close to us, those in need of our involvement and heartfelt generosity.
The ability to help, to be thoughtful and to do good, fills life with a true, human purpose. Wherever we are – at a table with our family, in a company of revelers or partying out in the streets – we’re all united in our merry New Year mood, and modern technology allows us to share our feelings with those dear to us, who may be hundreds or thousands of kilometers away.
And, as always, allow me to offer special congratulations to all the people who are currently at work – people fulfilling their professional or military duty, work their shift at hospitals, steer trains and aircraft. We’re all together in this New Year’s night, and we’re all together in our daily pursuits as well.
